SUMMARY:Alaska Young Adult Eagle Eye Summer Institute
DESCRIPTION:Join the Brothers and Sisters of St. John and other Catholic young adults ages 20 – 33\, July 23 – August 2 and discover God in the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness. Experience the rhythm of the liturgical observances of the Community of St. John. Early in this program\, we will be hiking the 24-mile Crow Pass Trail\, well known in Alaska as part of the historic Iditarod trail. For the 4 days of our backcountry adventure\, immersed in God’s creation\, we will forge new friendships while we brave the challenges of crossing the glacial waters of Eagle River. Following our hike\, as part of our daily rhythm at the retreat center near Anchorage\, we will continue theology and philosophy\, with views of the Chugach Mountains rising up on the fringes of the city. SUMMARY:Fit Women's Hike
DESCRIPTION:Step away from the noise of everyday life — the office\, the laundry\, the endless to-do list — and enter the quiet that makes room for God to speak. \nThe Fit Women’s Hike is a three-day backcountry adventure with Fr. Nathan Cromly and a small group of women who are ready to be challenged\, stretched\, and strengthened — physically\, mentally\, and spiritually. It’s Catholic formation in the wilderness\, where prayer\, perseverance\, and friendship meet in a breathtaking setting. \nThis guided experience with COR Expeditions will take us to Monarch Pass in the Sawatch Range\, then hiking to our backcountry hut where we’ll bunk for three nights with a roof over our heads — and very few modern comforts. (No electricity. No running water. Yes\, there is an outhouse.) \nTo participate\, you should be able to: \n\nHike 3+ miles with 30 lbs on your back\nGo without amenities like running water and electricity\nEmbrace a physically demanding and deeply rewarding experience\n\nThroughout the hike\, Fr. Nathan will offer spiritual guidance and formation\, helping you grow in courage\, endurance\, prayer\, and trust in the Lord — all while surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation. \nTransportation is provided. COR Expeditions will provide travel from SJI to the trailhead and from the trail back to SJI. Participants\, SJI staff\, and COR staff will depart from the SJI campus together. \nWhen: July 27\, 2026 – July 31\, 2026\nWho: Active Women\nWhere: Lost Wonder Hut in Salida\, Colorado\nCost: $1\,200 (SJLN Silver Membership)\nPart of the cost of this event is used to support the Saint John Institute.
